JIM LACY

Light & Place
By Jim Lacy

Photography has always been my first love, a passion that has guided the course of my life. In fact, it was through a shared interest in photography that Tena and I first crossed paths, and it was our mutual admiration for each other's talents that laid the foundation for our deep connection. My journey in the world of photography has been a rich and diverse one. For many years, I dedicated my craft to the realm of commercial photography, working with both local and international firms. While I have found inspiration in many subjects, I am particularly drawn to the beauty of older buildings, the intricate details of architecture, graphic elements, and their fascinating interplay with light. It's the magic of capturing those subtle nuances, the play of shadows, and the dance of light that continues to fuel my creative spirit. As a detail-oriented person, I thrive on the constant quest for learning, always exploring new techniques and experimenting with the latest photography products. This unending curiosity has led me to delve into various types of lighting, and I'm constantly refining my skills as a photographer. One avenue that has become a deeply personal creative outlet for me is light painting. The process of using light as a brush to paint on a canvas of darkness is a mesmerizing experience, allowing me to create unique and awe-inspiring imagery. More recently, I introduced a drone to my repertoire, and it has opened up a whole new world of creative possibilities. It's rapidly become my favorite tool for artistic expression, providing a bird's-eye view that offers fresh perspectives on the world's beauty. I take great pleasure in sharing these breathtaking aerial visions with others, inviting them to see the world from a new angle. Photography, to me, is not just a profession; it's a lifelong love affair, a medium through which I explore the world's intricate details and beauty. It's a journey of learning, growing, and constantly evolving, and I'm thrilled to continue sharing my vision with the world.
